Ladies and Gentlemen,

On 28-29 May, 2008, Gdynia will host the 8th International Economic Forum. Like in previous years, this will be a meeting of people who have already succeeded in business and are looking for new areas of business activity with those who are at the beginning of the road.

Part of the formula of the Forum in Gdynia is that we invite international celebrities - researchers, business tycoons, politicians, local authority people and journalist writing on economic issues. Exchange of opinions and new contacts are fostered by both the plenary sessions and the thematic groups.

This year it is Emma Duncan, the deputy editor of The Economist, that will be the special guest of the Forum.

We always try to match the programme of the subsequent Forum events with the expectations of the participants. Naturally, we also treat the event as an opportunity to present Gdynia and all it has to offer to business people.

During the next Forum you may expect some of the themes that were discussed during earlier events, like the maritime economy, tourism, finance; but there will also be something new - a panel devoted to airport infrastructure. This is strictly connected with the preparations now under way to open an airport at the existing Gdynia-Kosakowo military airfield. The Forum will be one of the first occasions for the city and the region to present this unique business opportunity.

Those of you who have already participated in the Forum in Gdynia must think highly of it . if you keep coming again. And I would like to assure those of you whom we will be hosting for the first time, that by participating in the meetings you are investing in the success of both - your respective companies and Gdynia.

She specializes in climate change, researching its impact on global economy, as well as in sustainable economic development. Emma Duncan has travelled around the world researching the issue of global warming and has met top business and political leaders.
